Today – sample roasting the Guatemala Rio Azul to find a light roast profile

This is one of my favorite origins. With the arrival last week of this years Liga crop and the Coffee Harvest Festival last weekend –

I haven’t had time to  spend with the Rio Azul to get what I wanted out of it. I have the dark roast profile finished – and it is a good one, nice licorice notes without being overbearing.

For the light roast – I’m looking for that really bright, juicy and fruity flavor profile, just out of first crack. – will keep you posted.

Busy morning so far

Roaster has been at temp for about half an hour – had to split my time between cupping in the roasting room and helping with the early morning rush in the espresso bar.
